UPSC Combined Defence Services (CDS I) Examination 2020: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the official notification on October 30, 2019 for Combined Defence Services Examination I (CDS Exam I).

CDS is a 3 stage exam consisting of written examination, interview & Personality test followed by medical examination. Applicants should have respective bachelor’s degree as per the post requirement. Please go through the official notification before applying.

NOTE : Male divorcee/widower candidates cannot be treated as unmarried male for the purpose of their admission in IMA/INA/AFA/OTA, Chennai courses and accordingly they are not eligible for these courses.

Note: Candidates who are studying in the final year/semester Degree course and have yet to pass the final year degree examination can also apply provided candidate should not have any present backlog upto the last semester / year

Physical Standards:

Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Combined Defence Services Examination (II), 2019. For details refer Appendix IV of official notification, Please.

UPSC Combined Defence Services Examination 2020: Application FEE

  1. Female/SC/ST – No Fees
  2. All Other – 200/-

Note: Applicants can submit the application charges in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India or by using Visa/Master/Rupay Credit/Debit Card.

Note: Applicants who opt for “Pay by Cash” mode should print the system generated Pay in-slip during Part-II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on the next working day only.

2. Interview for intelligence and personality test

The SSB(Service Selection board) procedure consists of two stage Selection process – stage I and stage II. Only those candidates who clear the stage I are permitted to appear for stage II. The details are:-

  • Stage I comprises of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests are Picture Perception* Description Test (PP&DT). The candidates will be shortlisted based on combination of performance in OIR Test and PP&DT.
  • Stage II Comprises of Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and the Conference. These tests are conducted over 4 days. The details of these tests are given on the website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.

UPSC Combined Defence Services 2020: How to Apply

  • Please visit the official website upsc.gov.in or https://upsconline.nic.in/mainmenu2.php.
  • Click on link “Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2020” in What’s New section
  • Candidates will be required to complete the Online Application form containing two stages viz. Part I and Part II.
  • Enter Registration ID & Date of Birth and Submit
  • Enter personal details and detail of any Photo ID Proof – Aadhaar Card/Voter Card/PAN Card/Passport/Driving Licence/Any other Photo ID Card issued by the State/Central Government
  • Upload a scanned copy of the same Photo ID.
  • Upload Photograph & Signature.
  • Select the preferred examination centre
  • Fill Payment details and accept Declaration and Submit the application form.
  • Download a copy of the application form for future use.
